Sharon received her certification from Eli Whitney Technical School in 1983 where she was part of the Honor Society of Chi Delta Alpha and started as a dental assistant. After working in a private practice as a dental assistant for several years she decided to pursue a career as a dental hygienist.
She attended The Fones School of Dental Hygiene at the University of Bridgeport and received a BS degree in dental hygiene Magna Cum Laude. Sharon furthered her education at the Fones School of Hygiene graduating Summa Cum Laude with her masters in Dental Hygiene in 2014.
Since 2004 she has been involved with the American Dental Hygiene Association, the Connecticut Dental Hygiene Association, and the New Haven Dental Hygiene Association. She has served as a delegate and trustee and is currently the treasurer for the New Haven component.
Sharon is very passionate about volunteering her time with the Connecticut Mission of Mercy, CT CHIP (child identification), Give Kids a Smile, Every Smile Counts, and the New Haven Dental Hygienists’ Association’s Battered Women clinics. She is also very involved in the Branford community. She is currently president of the Branford Community Garden and is helping the Branford Food Pantry set up a garden on their property.
